Press Release - Hertspol BSL Course

Hertfordshire Constabulary currently have 21 officers undertaking the role of Link Officers for the Deaf, deaf and deafblind.  Our officers provide information and support to colleagues and members of the community and are continuing with their studies in order to provide a better service.

Sixteen Link Officer have now completed training in Deaf Awareness and Communication Tactics courses and five are at various stages of obtaining both units to the full certificate.  We are grateful to ANDA for working with us and supporting us over the last year.  ANDA’s help in providing further training to these Link Officers in British Sign Language is invaluable.  Our thanks to Judy Robinson for co-ordinating our requests and tutor Jo Thomson for taking us on.  Our first course starts in March so help and support from members of the Deaf community would be appreciated, especially when officers attend Deaf clubs around Hertfordshire and at Luton to seek help practicing.
